Vascular Disease Foundation offers Patient HealthCasts on Vascular Disease

Lakewood, CO – The Vascular Disease Foundation (VDF) announced today that it offers free HealthCasts that cover different aspects of vascular disease. Guests are leading scientific and clinical experts in their respective fields who provide the most up-to-date and accurate information about vascular disease.

HealthCasts are hosted by Dr. David Meyerson, and produced by Dr. Kerry Stewart. Dr. Meyerson is a cardiologist at Johns Hopkins and a scientific advisor to VDF. Dr. Stewart is a Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins and a member of the VDF Board of Directors.

Currently there are ten episodes and topics include: an introduction to VDF; what is peripheral arterial disease (PAD); general information about the vascular laboratory; frequently asked vascular questions including travel and blood clots; diagnosis and treatment for PAD and critical leg ischemia; carotid artery disease; exercise and PAD; how to recognize the signs of stroke and a two part-series on the hazards of smoking and tips for quitting.

Upcoming topics include deep vein thrombosis (DVT), Buerger’s disease, congenital vascular malformation (CVM), Raynaud’s disease and varicose veins.

“The addition of HealthCasts for VDF is just one more way for us to educate the general public about vascular disease,” said Sheryl Benjamin, VDF Executive Director. “With Dr. Meyerson and Dr. Stewart’s expertise and knowledge we already have nine informative, science based HealthCasts for the general public to receive additional information about vascular disease.”

HealthCasts may be found on VDF’s Web site at www.vdf.org/resources, iTunes, Feedburner, Yahoo and other sites. Listening instructions and a complete description of each episode may be found on VDF’s Web site.

The Colorado-based Vascular Disease Foundation is the only national organization with the sole purpose of educating the public about vascular diseases. It is the most trusted source of scientific and non-biased information on vascular diseases. For more information, call 866.VDF.4INFO (866.833.4463) or visit our Web site, www.vdf.org
