The ankle-brachial index, or ABI, is a simple, non-invasive way to see if you are at risk for peripheral arterial disease (PAD). To find a screening site, visit one of the links below. Most sites perform the ABI, which compares the blood pressure in your ankles with the blood pressure in your arms.

Legs for Life Screening Program, coordinated by the Society of Interventional Radiology, launches its annual screening program each fall.  You can also locate year-round screening sites on SIR’s Web site; click on “vascular screening” to find a center near you.

Local ABI Screenings

Ohio

Contact the Center for Vascular Health (Healthy Artery Program) at St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio for free PAD screenings. Screenings take place every Tuesday and Thursday between 8:30am-5:00pm and on M|W|F as needed. Please contact 800.834.4917 or 216.363.2732, ext. 33738 to schedule an appointment.

The Healthy Artery Program offers Free Cardiovascular Screening M-F 8:30-4:30 by appointment.
The screening is completed in the Westlake Family Health Center: 26908 Detroit Rd. Suite #300, Westlake, OH 44145. Please contact Rhonda Stewart or Lori Lange, 440.827.5452.

Pennsylvania

Contact Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pennsylvania offers free ABI screenings the first Tuesday of the month. Please contact 610. 278.2815, appointments are required.
