Meet Team VDF!

Team VDF is a team of dedicated men and women from all over the U.S. and Canada that committed themselves to running in the 2007 LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon. They also were committed to fundraising to increase awareness of vascular disease to the 1.5 million runners and spectators that attended the event on Sunday, October 7 in Chicago.

If you heard any of the news reports about the marathon, you know that the temperature was unseasonably warm and broke a record for being the hottest date in the city’s history for that date. With the thermometer soaring to a hot 88 degrees under a bright sun, these runners stepped up to the challenge and completed the 26.2 miles.

At approximately 12 noon, marathon officials cancelled the race and told runners that had not reached the half way mark by this point to turn around. Most of our runners had already surpassed that mark and braved the heat to continue on. Some of our amazing runners had not reached this mark and were forced to turn back against their will.

These runners have dedicated themselves to not only completing the marathon, but to helping to reduce death and disability from vascular disease as well. All donations are tax deductive and support VDF’s mission. Won’t you support them and make a donation today? Thank you for your support!
